Overnight Desert Safari Dubai: The Short Answer

The full evening safari, then a night under the open desert sky. Dune bashing, BBQ dinner and eight live shows, followed by a bonfire, stargazing, a night in a traditional tent and breakfast at sunrise, all at our own DTCM-licensed camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir. We confirm your price on WhatsApp.

  • How much is the overnight desert safari in Dubai?: We confirm your price on WhatsApp because an overnight depends on your group size, date, whether it is shared or private, and any add-ons.
  • What time is pickup, and how long does the overnight last?: Pickup is usually around 3:00 to 3:30 PM from your hotel, and the overnight runs roughly 16 to 18 hours, with a drop back after breakfast the next morning.
  • What is included, and what should I bring?: The overnight includes dune bashing, a camel ride, sandboarding, a sunset stop, costumes, henna, shisha, eight live shows, a BBQ buffet dinner, a bonfire, stargazing, a night in a tent with a mattress and blankets, breakfast and hotel transfers.
  • How do I book, and what is the cancellation policy?: Message us on WhatsApp with your date, group size and whether you want shared or private, and we send your quote and confirm in minutes.
  • Is an overnight desert safari worth it?: If you want a dark-sky night, a bonfire and a desert sunrise, yes. Our guests rate us 4.9 stars from more than 5,000 visitors.
  • Is a desert safari safe during pregnancy?: We do not recommend the overnight safari during pregnancy. Dune bashing is not suitable for expectant mothers, and a cold night on a camp mattress with basic facilities is not ideal.

What is an overnight desert safari in Dubai, and how much does it cost?

An overnight desert safari in Dubai is the complete evening safari plus a night spent at the desert camp instead of returning to the city. You get everything the evening safari offers, dune bashing across the dunes, a camel ride, sandboarding, a sunset stop, Arabic costumes, henna, shisha, eight live shows and a halal BBQ buffet dinner, and then the camp quietens for a bonfire, stargazing under a clear desert sky, a night sleeping in a traditional tent with a mattress and blankets, and breakfast in the morning before your drop back. With Royal Arabian Safari it runs from our own camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir, the closest desert to Dubai.

On price, we will be straight with you. Across Dubai, overnight safaris typically range from around AED 375 per person at the budget end to over AED 1,000 for premium camps with private deluxe tents. Because an overnight is shaped by your group size, your date and any extras you want, we confirm your exact price on WhatsApp rather than printing one figure that may not fit your plans. Message us with your group size and date and we will send a quote in minutes, with no deposit and payment on arrival.

Why Stay Overnight in the Desert

A standard evening safari ends just as the desert becomes its most magical. The crowds leave, the generators wind down, and the sky fills with stars you simply cannot see from the city. An overnight safari is for people who do not want that moment to end. Instead of driving back after dinner, you stay, the camp grows quiet and peaceful, and you experience the desert the way it has been experienced for centuries, under an open sky around a warm fire.

It is the single best way to see a truly dark desert sky. Away from the city lights of Dubai, the stars are astonishing, and on a clear night you can pick out far more than you ever could in town. You wake to the soft light of sunrise over the dunes, with the cool morning air and breakfast waiting, before heading back to the city. For couples, families and groups who want something deeper than a few hours, an overnight is unforgettable.

At Royal Arabian Safari we run the overnight from our own camp, not a borrowed site, and you book directly with us as the operator, never through a reseller. We are licensed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, with a 4.9 star rating from more than 5,000 guests. This guide covers exactly what an overnight includes, a full hour-by-hour plan from afternoon pickup to morning drop, what the night actually feels like and what to bring, an honest guide to who should and should not stay overnight, and how it compares to the evening and night safaris.

Night vs Evening vs Overnight Safari: The Difference

People often mix these up, so here is the honest difference. A night or evening safari is a few hours ending with dinner; an overnight keeps you at the camp until morning. All three share the same dune bashing, shows and BBQ dinner.

In short, choose the evening safari if you want the full show and dinner but prefer to sleep in your hotel, and choose the overnight safari if you want the bonfire, the dark-sky stars, a night in the desert and a sunrise morning. If a shorter trip suits you better, see our evening desert safari; if you want a private vehicle either way, see the private desert safari.

Your Overnight, Hour by Hour

Sunset over golden dunes at the start of an overnight desert safari near Dubai
Sunset over golden dunes at the start of an overnight desert safari near Dubai

An overnight flows from an afternoon pickup all the way through to a morning drop. A typical plan looks like this.

TimeWhat happens
Around 3:00 – 3:30 PMHotel pickup and scenic drive to our Al Awir camp
On arrivalDune bashing across the golden dunes
Golden hourSunset photography stop from the top of a dune
At the campCamel ride, sandboarding, Arabic costumes and henna
Early eveningShisha and soft drinks as the live shows begin
ShowsBelly dance, LED Tanoura, fire show and more, eight performances
DinnerFull halal BBQ buffet, vegetarian and non-vegetarian
After the crowds leaveThe camp quietens, a bonfire is lit, stargazing begins
NightSleep in a traditional tent with a mattress and blankets
SunriseWake to the morning light over the dunes
MorningBreakfast at the camp
After breakfastDrop back at your hotel

The whole experience runs roughly 16 to 18 hours from pickup to drop. The first half mirrors the evening safari; the magic of an overnight is the second half, the quiet desert night, the fire, the stars and the sunrise that day visitors never see.

What Is Included in the Overnight Safari

The overnight includes the complete evening experience and the full night at camp:

4×4 dune bashing across the dunes
Camel ride
Sandboarding
Sunset photography stop
Arabic costumes for photos
Henna for the ladies
Unlimited soft drinks, water, tea and coffee
Shisha in the designated area
Eight live shows including belly dance, LED Tanoura and fire show
Full halal BBQ buffet dinner, veg and non-veg
Bonfire under the stars
Stargazing in a clear dark desert sky
A night in a traditional tent with mattress and blankets
Separate washrooms for men and women
Breakfast in the morning
Hotel pickup and drop

Falcon photos, a professional photography package, quad bikes, a dune buggy, table-side shisha and VIP seating are optional add-ons, listed with exact prices below. Everything in the list above is part of your overnight. The exact tent setup and any premium options are confirmed with your quote on WhatsApp.

What the Desert Night Actually Feels Like

Most websites sell the dream but never tell you what a night in the desert is really like, so you can come prepared. Here is the honest version, and it is part of the magic.

It gets cold at night

The desert loses its heat quickly after dark. Even on a warm day, the night can turn cool, and in the winter months it gets genuinely cold. Bring a warm layer or a jacket. We provide blankets, but a hoodie and long trousers make the night far more comfortable.

Power is limited

This is a desert camp, not a hotel. Charge your phone and camera fully before you arrive and bring a power bank, especially if you want to photograph the stars and the sunrise. Many guests find switching off is part of the charm.

It is wonderfully quiet

Once the day visitors leave, the silence is something city dwellers rarely hear. Just the fire, a little wind over the dunes and an enormous sky. It is calm, safe and deeply peaceful.

The sleeping setup is simple and comfortable

You sleep in a traditional tent or seating tent with a mattress and blankets provided. It is comfortable and authentic rather than five-star, which is exactly the point of sleeping in the desert. Washrooms are available at the camp through the night.

Stargazing Under a Dark Desert Sky

Dark desert sky for stargazing on an overnight desert safari near Dubai
Dark desert sky for stargazing on an overnight desert safari near Dubai

The single biggest reason to stay overnight is the night sky. In the city, light pollution hides almost everything, but out at the camp, away from Dubai glow, the stars come alive. On a clear, moonless night you can see vastly more, and the experience of lying back on the cool sand under that sky is one people remember for years.

The clearest skies are usually in the cooler, drier months from October to April, and a night around the new moon is darkest of all. Bring a phone or camera with a night mode for the stars, and consider a small tripod if you want sharp shots, since long exposures need a steady base. Even without a camera, simply watching the sky by the fire is the heart of an overnight safari.

Where the Overnight Takes Place

Overnight desert safari camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir near Dubai
Overnight desert safari camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir near Dubai

Your overnight runs from our own camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir, on the eastern edge of Dubai just off the Dubai-Hatta Road (E44), at approximately 24.638, 55.490. Al Awir is the closest desert to the city, roughly 40 kilometres and about a 40 minute drive from central Dubai, far enough for a properly dark sky yet easy to reach. The dunes are golden, gentle and rolling, ideal for a relaxed dune-bashing drive and a comfortable camp.

Your overnight includes hotel pickup and drop across Dubai, including Deira, Bur Dubai, Downtown, Business Bay, the Marina area and Jumeirah. We collect you in the afternoon, drive you to the camp, and bring you back after breakfast the next morning. There is no need to self-drive or find the camp in the dark, and when you book on WhatsApp we confirm your pickup time and share the exact location.

Overnight Desert Safari Price

We confirm your overnight price on WhatsApp, and there is a good reason for it. An overnight is not one fixed package, it flexes around a few things, so a single printed number would be misleading for most groups. What shapes your price:

Your group size, the more guests, the better the per-person value
Your date and the season, weekends and peak winter differ from quiet periods
Shared camp or a fully private overnight for your group only
Any add-ons you want, such as a private tent, quad bikes or photography

For reference, overnight safaris across Dubai generally run from about AED 375 per person at the budget end to over AED 1,000 for premium private-tent camps. We keep ours competitive and tailored to exactly what you want. Message us your group size and date and we will send your quote in minutes, with no deposit and payment on arrival. Because we own the camp and you book directly with us, there is no agency commission added on top.

Shared or Fully Private Overnight

You can do the overnight as part of the camp with other guests, or as a fully private experience for your group alone. A private overnight means your own 4×4, your own pace on the dunes and your own space at camp, ideal for a family, a couple or a celebration who want the desert night to themselves.

Tell us on WhatsApp whether you want shared or private and we will quote both so you can choose. If you like the idea of a private vehicle for the safari itself, our private desert safari page explains how that works, and the same privacy can extend to your overnight.

Optional Add-Ons: Add Any You Like

We show every extra and its exact price openly, nothing is hidden and nothing is compulsory. Henna, shisha in the camp area and the live shows are already included free. Want any of these on your overnight? Just tell us when you book on WhatsApp and we will have it ready.

Who Should Stay Overnight, and Who Should Not

An overnight is wonderful, but it is not for everyone, and we would rather you choose the right safari than be uncomfortable. Here is the honest guidance no other page seems to give.

An overnight is perfect if you are

A couple wanting a romantic night under the stars
A family with older children who will enjoy camping
Keen on astronomy and dark-sky stargazing
Celebrating something special and want the desert to yourselves
Comfortable with simple, authentic camping rather than a hotel
Visiting in the cooler months for the best night sky

Please reconsider, or talk to us first, if

You are pregnant. This is the question many people have and few websites answer honestly. We do not recommend the overnight safari during pregnancy. Dune bashing is not suitable for expectant mothers, and a night on a camp mattress with cool temperatures and basic facilities is not ideal either. Expectant mothers are very welcome at an evening safari for the calmer activities, the shows and the dinner, skipping the dune bashing, and then returning to a comfortable hotel. Please always follow your doctor advice.

You have severe motion sickness or a serious back or neck condition. The dune-bashing part can be kept gentle or skipped in a private vehicle, so you can still enjoy the camp, but be honest with us so we can plan it. If the bumps are a real problem, an evening at the camp without the dunes may suit you better.

You are travelling with a very young infant. A baby can manage an evening safari, but a full night in the desert, with the cold and the simple setup, is a lot for the littlest guests. Many families with babies prefer the evening safari and an early night back at the hotel.

You need hotel-level comfort, power or medical facilities through the night. A desert camp is authentic and simple. If you rely on powered medical equipment or cannot manage a basic overnight, the evening safari is the better choice. When in doubt, message us and we will tell you honestly whether the overnight suits you.

What to Wear and Bring for an Overnight

An overnight needs a little more than an evening trip, mainly because of the cold night and the lack of power. Pack these and you will be set.

Light clothing for the warm afternoon
A warm layer, hoodie or jacket for the cold desert night
Long trousers and closed shoes for the sand and the evening chill
A fully charged phone or camera, plus a power bank
A small tripod if you want sharp photos of the stars
Sunglasses and a hat for the afternoon and the sunrise
Basic toiletries and any personal medication
Cash or card to pay on the day and for any add-ons

Blankets and a mattress are provided, and Arabic costumes for photos are free at the camp. You do not need to bring a tent or sleeping bag. Keep your luggage light, you only need an overnight kit, not a suitcase. If you are bringing children, pack a warm layer for them too, as little ones feel the night chill first.

Is an Overnight Desert Safari Safe?

Yes. The dune bashing is driven by our own trained, experienced drivers in a maintained 4×4, with deflated tyres and seatbelts for everyone, and we are licensed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism with a 4.9 star rating from more than 5,000 guests. The camp is staffed and supervised through the night, with washrooms available, so you are looked after from pickup to morning drop.

The desert at night is calm and safe, the main things to plan for are simply the cold and the lack of power, which is why we are upfront about them. If anyone in your group has a medical condition or a specific worry, tell us when you book on WhatsApp and we will plan the night around it, or advise the evening safari if that suits you better.

The Best Time for an Overnight Safari

Golden dunes at dusk, the best season for an overnight desert safari Dubai
Golden dunes at dusk, the best season for an overnight desert safari Dubai

The cooler months from October to April are the best time for an overnight. The nights are crisp and comfortable for sleeping, the skies tend to be clearest, and the whole experience is at its most pleasant. This is peak season, so weekends and holidays book up, and it is worth messaging us a little ahead.

In the hot months from May to September the days are intense, but the desert cools meaningfully after dark and an overnight is still very doable, with the dinner, shows and sleeping all in the cooler part of the night. For the darkest skies and the best stargazing in any season, aim for a night around the new moon, when there is little moonlight to wash out the stars.

Photography on an Overnight

Guests photographing the desert on an overnight safari Dubai
Guests photographing the desert on an overnight safari Dubai

An overnight gives you photo opportunities a day trip cannot, golden-hour dunes, the camp lit at night, the bonfire, the star-filled sky and a soft desert sunrise. Bring a power bank so your battery lasts, use night mode for the stars, and a small tripod helps for the long exposures that capture the Milky Way. The free Arabic costumes are perfect for portraits, and a falcon photo at AED 10–30 makes a striking, uniquely Arabian shot.

If you would rather someone else capture it, our professional photography package runs from AED 50 to 150. Either way, the changing light from afternoon to night to dawn means an overnight produces some of the most memorable photos of any desert trip.

Great for Couples, Families and Groups

Couples

A romantic night under the stars with a bonfire and a sunrise, ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries and proposals. Ask about a private overnight for just the two of you.

Families

Older children love the adventure of camping. We can keep the dune bashing gentle, and a warm layer keeps everyone comfortable through the night.

Groups of friends

An overnight is a brilliant group experience, the dunes by day, the fire and stars by night. Tell us your numbers for a per-person quote.

Stargazers

If you love astronomy, an overnight at our camp is the best dark sky near Dubai. Come around the new moon for the clearest view.

How to Book and the Cancellation Policy

Booking is simple and direct on WhatsApp. Message us your date, your group size and whether you want a shared or private overnight, and we will send your quote in minutes and confirm your booking. There is no deposit and you pay only when you arrive, so there is nothing to lose if your plans change. Because you book directly with us, the camp owner, there is no agency commission on your price.

If something comes up, just let us know in good time and we will reschedule or adjust your booking. Tell us when you book about any add-ons you want, any occasion you are marking, or any guest with a health concern, and we will plan the night around your group.

Why Book Your Overnight Direct With Us

Most overnight listings online are either thin pages with no real detail, premium camps priced out of reach, or third-party booking sites adding a commission. We do it differently, and we are honest about what a night in the desert is really like.

Our own camp, booked direct

We own and run the camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir. You book directly with us as the operator, with no travel-agent commission inflating your price.

Honest about the experience

We tell you the truth, it gets cold at night, power is limited, the setup is simple and authentic. That honesty is why our guests are not surprised and leave us a 4.9 star rating.

Licensed and proven

Royal Arabian Safari is licensed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, with more than 5,000 guests hosted and every add-on price shown openly on this page.

If a few hours suits you better than a full night, our shared evening safari starts at AED 35 per person. But if you want the bonfire, the dark-sky stars and a sunrise in the dunes, message us for your overnight quote and we will build the perfect night for your group.

Quick Summary

Overnight desert safari Dubai at a glance: Royal Arabian Safari offers an overnight desert safari in Dubai at its own DTCM-licensed camp on the golden dunes of Al Awir, the closest desert to Dubai (about 40 kilometres from the city). It includes the full evening experience, dune bashing, a camel ride, sandboarding, a sunset stop, Arabic costumes, henna, shisha, eight live shows including belly dance, LED Tanoura and a fire show, and a halal BBQ buffet dinner, then a bonfire, stargazing under a dark desert sky, a night sleeping in a traditional tent with a mattress and blankets, breakfast in the morning, and hotel pickup and drop. The experience runs around 16 to 18 hours, from a roughly 3:00 PM pickup to a drop after breakfast the next morning. The price is confirmed on WhatsApp because it depends on group size, date, shared or private, and any add-ons; for reference, overnight safaris across Dubai typically range from about AED 375 per person to over AED 1,000 for premium private-tent camps. It can be done as a shared camp experience or a fully private overnight for your group only. The overnight is not recommended during pregnancy, because dune bashing is unsuitable for expectant mothers and the cold night and basic facilities are not ideal; an evening safari is the better choice in that case. The nights get cold, so guests should bring a warm layer, and power is limited, so a power bank is advised. Optional add-ons include VIP seating at AED 50 per person, a quad bike from AED 200, a Can-Am dune buggy at AED 800 for 30 minutes, a falcon photo at AED 10–30, and a professional photography package at AED 50 to 150. The best season is October to April, with the darkest skies around the new moon. Booking is direct on WhatsApp at +971 58 228 2683, with no deposit and payment on arrival. Royal Arabian Safari is DTCM licensed with a 4.9 star average rating from more than 5,000 guests.

Overnight Desert Safari Dubai: FAQ

How much is the overnight desert safari in Dubai?
We confirm your price on WhatsApp because an overnight depends on your group size, date, whether it is shared or private, and any add-ons. For reference, overnight safaris across Dubai generally run from about AED 375 per person at the budget end to over AED 1,000 for premium private-tent camps. There is no deposit and you pay on arrival.
Is there a night safari in Dubai, and how is it different from an overnight?
Yes. A night or evening safari is about six hours and you return to your hotel the same night, around 9 to 9:30 PM. An overnight keeps you at the camp until the next morning, adding a bonfire, dark-sky stargazing, a night sleeping in a tent and breakfast at sunrise. Both include the same dune bashing, shows and BBQ dinner.
Are there different options for overnight safaris?
Yes. You can do the overnight as part of the camp with other guests, or as a fully private overnight for your group only, with your own vehicle and space. Standard and more premium tent setups are possible. Tell us what you want on WhatsApp and we will quote the options so you can choose.
Is a desert safari safe during pregnancy?
We do not recommend the overnight safari during pregnancy. Dune bashing is not suitable for expectant mothers, and a cold night on a camp mattress with basic facilities is not ideal. Expectant mothers are welcome at an evening safari for the calmer activities, shows and dinner, skipping the dune bashing, then returning to a comfortable hotel. Always follow your doctor advice.
What is included, and what should I bring?
The overnight includes dune bashing, a camel ride, sandboarding, a sunset stop, costumes, henna, shisha, eight live shows, a BBQ buffet dinner, a bonfire, stargazing, a night in a tent with a mattress and blankets, breakfast and hotel transfers. Bring a warm layer for the cold night, a power bank, a small tripod for star photos, basic toiletries and any medication. Blankets and costumes are provided.
What does an overnight actually feel like?
The afternoon is warm and full of activity, the evening brings the shows and dinner, and then the camp quietens for a bonfire and a remarkable star-filled sky. It gets cold at night, power is limited and the sleeping setup is simple and authentic rather than five-star. It is calm, safe and deeply peaceful, which is exactly the appeal.
Is an overnight desert safari worth it?
If you want a dark-sky night, a bonfire and a desert sunrise, yes. Our guests rate us 4.9 stars from more than 5,000 visitors. We are honest that it is camping, not a hotel, so guests come prepared for the cold and the simple setup and love the experience. If you prefer comfort, the evening safari may suit you better.
Are there overnight desert safaris near Dubai, in Ras Al Khaimah or Abu Dhabi?
Our overnight is at our Al Awir camp near Dubai. We also run desert safaris in Abu Dhabi from a separate camp, so if you are based there, message us. Ras Al Khaimah is a different emirate with its own operators; for an overnight close to Dubai, our Al Awir camp is ideal.
What time is pickup, and how long does the overnight last?
Pickup is usually around 3:00 to 3:30 PM from your hotel, and the overnight runs roughly 16 to 18 hours, with a drop back after breakfast the next morning. Exact times are confirmed when you book on WhatsApp.
Is the overnight safari suitable for kids and families?
Older children usually love the adventure of camping under the stars, and we can keep the dune bashing gentle for them. Pack a warm layer, as the night gets cold. For very young infants, a full night in the desert is demanding, and many families with babies prefer the evening safari instead.
Can I book a fully private overnight or a private vehicle?
Yes. You can have a fully private overnight for your group, with your own 4×4 and your own space at camp, ideal for families, couples and celebrations. Just ask on WhatsApp and we will quote it alongside the shared option.
What optional add-ons can I get, and how much?
Everything is shown openly: VIP seating AED 50 per person, quad bike AED 200 single or AED 300 double, Can-Am dune buggy AED 800 for 30 minutes, falcon photo AED 10–30, long camel ride AED 300 for two, professional photography AED 50 to 150, extra dune bashing AED 150 per vehicle, full henna design AED 30 to 50, and table-side shisha AED 50. Add any with your overnight quote.
Is hotel pickup and drop-off included?
Yes. Afternoon pickup and a morning drop after breakfast are included, across Dubai including Deira, Bur Dubai, Downtown, Business Bay, the Marina area and Jumeirah. You do not need to self-drive or find the camp in the dark.
Will I be cold, and what is the sleeping setup?
You sleep in a traditional tent with a mattress and blankets provided. The desert cools quickly after dark and can get genuinely cold in winter, so bring a warm layer or jacket and long trousers. With the right layers, the night is comfortable and the experience is unforgettable.
Is the camp safe at night?
Yes. The camp is staffed and supervised through the night, with washrooms available, and the dune bashing is driven by our trained drivers in a maintained 4×4 with seatbelts. We are DTCM licensed with a 4.9 star rating from more than 5,000 guests, so you are looked after from pickup to morning drop.
Do you serve breakfast in the morning?
Yes. Breakfast is served at the camp in the morning, after you wake to the sunrise over the dunes and before your drop back to the city. It is part of the overnight at no extra cost.
How do I book, and what is the cancellation policy?
Message us on WhatsApp with your date, group size and whether you want shared or private, and we send your quote and confirm in minutes. There is no deposit and you pay only when you arrive, so if your plans change just let us know in good time and we will reschedule or adjust your booking.
Can you help with a proposal, anniversary or celebration?
Yes. A private overnight with a bonfire, the sunset and a star-filled sky is a beautiful setting for a proposal or anniversary. Tell us on WhatsApp when you book and we will do what we can to help make the night special for your group.

If we have to cancel, what happens?

A cancellation policy that covers your obligations but not ours is only half a document. Here is our side of it, in writing.

If we have to cancel your booking — for weather, a vehicle issue, or driver illness — we will contact you as soon as we know and rebook you at no charge on the next date that works for you. You pay nothing for the cancelled booking.

If we need to send a different vehicle than the one you booked, we will ask you first rather than turning up in something you did not book.

This is separate from your own cancellation rights, which are unchanged: you can cancel free up to 12 hours before pickup. Because we take no deposit and no booking fee, there is no money of yours sitting with us either way — nothing to chase, and nothing to wait for.
