Dubai airport luggage storage, in one paragraph
Dubai International has staffed left-luggage counters in all three terminals, open around the clock. In Terminal 3 it is run by Emirates and costs AED 35 per standard bag for twelve hours or less, rising to AED 40 for anything oversized or valuable. In Terminals 1 and 2 it is run by dnata and costs AED 40 standard, AED 50 oversized or valuable. Those are the published figures from Dubai Airports and from Emirates own baggage pages, read on the day this page was written, and they are per twelve hours, not per day — which is where nearly every other guide on this search goes wrong.
There is also a way to pay nothing. If you are spending those hours on a tour or a transfer with us, the bags go in the boot, the driver stays with the vehicle, and we do not charge for luggage. Two bags for twelve hours at the T1 counter is AED 80. With us it is zero, and the car takes you somewhere while it holds them.
The official prices, terminal by terminal
Two official sources publish these numbers: the Dubai Airports information pages and Emirates own baggage services page for Dubai. They agree on Terminal 3. Both were read on the day of writing, and both should be re-checked in the week you fly, because airport service pricing moves without announcement.

A standard bag is defined on both sources by a dimension rather than a weight: up to 21 by 24 by 11 inches. Anything larger than that, and anything declared as valuable, moves to the higher rate. Emirates lists valuables at the same AED 40 as an oversized bag in Terminal 3.
Where the counters actually are
All three are landside, on the arrivals level, which means you clear immigration first and then walk to them. None of them is airside, so if you are staying inside the transit area you cannot reach any of them.

What the official pages do not say, and we will not invent. Neither source publishes a list of prohibited items for stored bags, a maximum storage duration, a weight limit, or a rate for periods longer than twelve hours beyond the fact that the twelve-hour block is the unit. If those matter to you, ask at the counter before you hand the bag over. We would rather leave a gap on this page than fill it with a guess.

Home check-in is the one worth knowing about if you have a late flight and a full day to spend. An agent comes to you, weighs and tags the bags, prints the boarding passes and takes the luggage to the aircraft, so you arrive at the terminal carrying nothing. Emirates states it is included in First Class and chargeable otherwise, without publishing the charge, so treat it as a phone call rather than a plan.
Where the other guides get this wrong
We read every page ranking for this search before writing ours. Three of them state the airport price incorrectly, and the error is always the same shape: the period.

We are not claiming those sites are dishonest. Prices age, and a page written a year ago is not corrected when a counter changes its rate. That is exactly why every number above carries the source it came from and the fact that it was read on the day of writing, and why we are telling you to check it again yourself before you fly.
The booking apps: how they compare
Most of page one for this search is not the airport at all. It is luggage-storage marketplaces, which take a booking online and hand your bag to a partner business: a hotel bell desk, a shop, a cafe. They are legitimate and they are usually cheaper per day than the airport counter. There are two things they rarely say plainly.
The first is location. Their Dubai listings cluster around the city, not inside the terminals. A booking near a metro station or in Al Garhoud is fine if your day is in the city, and useless if you wanted to hand the bag over the moment you landed and pick it up on the way back to the gate.
The second is the cover. They advertise insurance against theft and damage, and the figures differ by an order of magnitude between operators and, on at least one of them, between two places on its own website. If your bag matters, read the actual policy rather than the headline number on the landing page.

The option where the bags cost nothing
We are a tour operator, not a storage company, so read this as the interested party talking. But the arithmetic is simple enough that you can check it yourself.
If you have hours to fill, you are going to spend money on something: a locker, a taxi, a tour, or all three. Book the car and the locker disappears from the bill. The bags go in the boot at arrivals, the vehicle is yours for the booking, and the driver stays with it while you walk around. There is no luggage charge, no per-bag rate, and no size rule beyond what physically fits in the vehicle you booked, which is why we ask how many bags before we send a car.

When the locker wins, we will say so. If your connection is under six hours, or you genuinely want to stay near the terminal, the counter is cheaper and simpler than anything we sell. The last row of that table is not modesty, it is the honest answer.
Which terminal are you actually in?
The terminal decides the price, the walk and sometimes whether the plan works at all.

That last row is the one that catches people. The counters are separate operations in separate buildings; a bag left in Terminal 2 is collected in Terminal 2. If your arrival and departure terminals differ, either carry the bag with you or hand it to a driver who can meet you wherever you end up.
What to do with your bags, by situation
Six situations that cover almost everybody who searches this.

The free option almost everyone forgets
Hotel bell desks in Dubai will hold luggage for guests, and in practice for people who are checking in later that day or who checked out that morning. It costs nothing, it is staffed, and it is a normal request rather than a favour. If you have a room booked anywhere in the city on either side of your gap, that is your answer and you should stop reading here.
Two caveats worth knowing. A bell desk is not a security deposit, so valuables, documents and electronics stay with you. And a hotel will hold bags for hours, not days: if you need storage for a week between two trips, that is a marketplace booking or a long-stay locker, not a bell desk.
Rules, limits and the things nobody publishes
This section exists because the honest answer to several common questions is “the official pages do not say”.

If a competing page answers any of those questions with a confident number, ask yourself where the number came from. We have quoted what is published and named what is not, which is less satisfying and considerably more useful at the counter.
Store them, or carry them? The break-even
There is a point where paying a counter stops making sense, and it is easier to find than people expect. Storage is a fixed cost that buys you nothing except the absence of a suitcase. A vehicle is a cost that carries the bags and takes you somewhere. So the question is only ever whether you were going to leave the airport anyway.

Two rules fall out of that table. Short gap, few bags: use the counter. It is quick, it is staffed all night and the fee is trivial. Long gap, or more than two bags: put them in a vehicle. You were going to move around the city anyway, and the luggage charge is zero.

When your connection is under about six hours, or when you want to stay near the terminal. In that case the counter is cheaper and simpler than anything we sell, and we will tell you so rather than take the booking.
What about porter service and baggage wrapping?
Porter service starts at AED 30 in Terminals 1, 2 and Dubai World Central. In Terminal 3 it is AED 40 for a regular wheeled case and AED 100 for a flat-bed trolley. Wrapping at Terminal 3 Departures is AED 40 for a standard bag and AED 80 for an oversize one; the other terminals offer it at the check-in areas without a published price.
Can Emirates collect my bags from my hotel?
Emirates offers Home Check-in in Dubai, where an agent comes to your address, weighs and tags the bags, prints boarding passes and delivers the luggage to your flight. Emirates states it is complimentary in First Class and chargeable otherwise, without publishing the charge, so treat it as a phone call to the airline rather than something you can budget for from a web page.
Are stored bags insured?
The official pages do not state any insurance cover. The storage marketplaces do advertise cover against theft and damage, and the advertised amounts vary widely between operators. If the contents matter, read the actual policy rather than the headline figure, and keep valuables, documents and medication with you regardless of which option you choose.

If we have to cancel, what happens?
A cancellation policy that covers your obligations but not ours is only half a document. Here is our side of it, in writing.
If we have to cancel your booking — for weather, a vehicle issue, or driver illness — we will contact you as soon as we know and rebook you at no charge on the next date that works for you. You pay nothing for the cancelled booking.
If we need to send a different vehicle than the one you booked, we will ask you first rather than turning up in something you did not book.
This is separate from your own cancellation rights, which are unchanged: you can cancel free up to 12 hours before pickup. Because we take no deposit and no booking fee, there is no money of yours sitting with us either way — nothing to chase, and nothing to wait for.
