If Abu Dhabi is your final destination rather than a connection, this may beat storage outright. Etihad’s Land and Leave service, run with Morafiq, delivers bags to a home or hotel within fifty kilometres of the airport, is complimentary on The Residence and First Deluxe fares, and otherwise costs one hundred and twenty-five dirhams excluding VAT for two bags with twenty per extra bag, booked up to an hour before you land (etihad.com, read 17 August). For a genuine transit passenger, though, plain storage is simpler.

The cheapest way is the public bus, and if all you want is the city centre you do not need us at all. The airport lists routes A1, A2, A10, A40, A15, K4 and N2 stopping just outside Arrivals, says the A-series runs around the clock, and states that fares must be paid with a Hafilat card because cash is not accepted on board, with machines near the stops (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August).
