Every hour on this list is a working hour for us. A 03:00 arrival is not an exception we squeeze in — it is an ordinary shift, at the ordinary price. Most layover pages will not tell you what time they start. This is ours.

No night surcharge. A 02:40 pickup costs the same as a 14:40 pickup. We track the inbound flight, so if you land late the driver simply waits — you do not need to message us from the aircraft.
One price for the car, not a price for each head
Almost every layover tour you will find is sold per person, which is fine on your own and expensive with a family. Ours is one price for the vehicle. The car costs AED 699 on a four-hour run whether one of you gets in or seven do — so the more of you there are, the less it costs each.

Based on the four-hour run at AED 699. A six-hour run is AED 799, eight hours AED 999, and a twelve-hour overnight AED 1,299 — each still for the whole car, up to seven guests, with airport pickup and drop-off, fuel, Salik tolls, parking and waiting time inside the price. There is no deposit and you pay the driver on the day.

There is no deposit, so there is nothing to lose. This is the whole policy, and it is the same at 03:00 as at midday.

The Short Answer
- Dubai Connect is the free one. If Emirates could not give you a shorter connection, they cover a hotel, meals, coach transfers and a complimentary 48-hour visa. You book it in Manage Booking at least 12 hours before your flight to Dubai and meet the Dubai Connect desk in arrivals.
- A Dubai Stopover is the paid one. You add nights to your ticket on purpose, on the way out or the way back, and build the trip in Emirates’ Dubai Experience planner.
- Neither of them gives you a car for the hours in between. Emirates gives you a bed and a shared coach on a fixed schedule. What you do with the gap is your problem to solve.
- That is the part we do. Private vehicle, English-speaking driver, meet and greet inside DXB arrivals with a name board, luggage in the car, and a route built backwards from your boarding call. From AED 699 (≈ $190) per car for up to seven guests.
- Rough rule: under 5 hours between flights, stay in the terminal. Between 5 and 8, you can see Downtown and old Dubai properly. Over 8, you can have a real day.
Dubai Connect and a Dubai stopover are not the same thing
Almost every argument about this online is two people describing two different products. Emirates sells both, the names sound alike, and only one of them is free.

What Emirates actually gives you on Dubai Connect
Read plainly, without the forum folklore, the service is this:
- A complimentary hotel stay, with the applicable meals included in the hotel booking. You may be asked for a credit card at check-in to cover extras like the mini-bar — that card is for your own spending, not for the room.
- A complimentary 48-hour visa where your nationality needs one. Emirates asks for it to be arranged at least 48 hours before arrival, or issued on arrival subject to UAE immigration approval.
- A complimentary coach from the airport to the hotel and back again, arranged at the Dubai Connect desk in arrivals.
- Booking at least 12 hours before your flight into Dubai, through Manage Booking, your Emirates office or your travel agent.
- Passengers under 18 can use the service when travelling with someone over 18.
The eligibility line is the one people miss: you qualify only when there was no better connection time to choose from on your itinerary. If a shorter connection existed and you picked the long one anyway, the free hotel is not owed to you. That single sentence explains most of the “why was I refused” posts online.
What Dubai Connect does not give you
We are a Dubai transport company, so read this knowing what we sell. It is still true.
The coach runs on the coach’s schedule, not yours. It goes to the hotel and back to the terminal — nowhere else. The hotel is wherever Emirates has rooms that night, which can be a long way from anything you wanted to see. And nothing in the package tells you whether the hours you have left after immigration, bags and the coach queue are enough to reach the Burj Khalifa and get back safely.
You are given a bed. You are not given the city. If you want the gap to be worth something, someone has to drive.
How many hours do you really have?
The number on your boarding pass is not the number you can spend. Take the connection time and subtract honestly:
Which is why our first answer to a short gap is often do not leave. We would rather lose a booking than have you miss a flight.
What actually fits in your gap
Prices are per vehicle for up to seven guests, not per person. A family of four on the 6-hour plan is paying about AED 250 each, and nobody is sharing a bus with sixteen strangers.
Your visa, honestly
If you are on Dubai Connect, the 48-hour visa is part of what Emirates arranges — that is their published position, and their page asks for it to be sorted at least 48 hours before you arrive where your nationality needs one.
If you are not on Dubai Connect, entry depends on your passport, and the rules differ by nationality in ways no tour company should be summarising for you. Some nationalities are visa-free on arrival, some need a visa arranged in advance. Check with Emirates or the UAE authorities for your own passport before you plan anything, and do it early enough to fix a surprise. We will happily hold a booking while you confirm.
What about the bags?
On most connections your checked bags fly straight through to your final destination and you never see them. If they do come out, or you are travelling with cabin bags only, the answer is simple with us: the bags stay in the car. There is no storage fee, no locker queue, and no walking around Dubai Mall pulling a suitcase.
Dubai Airports does run left-baggage facilities in the terminals if you would rather not carry anything at all — rates and locations are on their own site. Most of our stopover guests do not need them.
When you should not leave the airport
Book nothing and stay where you are if: your connection is under five hours; you are arriving on the last bank of the night with a first-thing-in-the-morning departure and you genuinely need sleep; you are travelling alone with small children and no help; or your onward flight is the only one that day and a missed connection ruins the trip.
Send us the two flight numbers anyway. If the honest answer is stay in the terminal, that is what we will tell you, and it costs you nothing to ask.
Six mistakes stopover travellers make
- Planning from the connection time. Subtract three to four hours before you decide anything.
- Assuming the free hotel is automatic. Dubai Connect has to be booked, at least 12 hours ahead, and only applies when no shorter connection existed.
- Waiting for the coach both ways. It runs to its own schedule, and that schedule can eat the hours you were hoping to use.
- Booking a shared bus tour. Shared tours collect other passengers from other hotels first. On a stopover, that lost hour is the whole trip.
- Joining the taxi rank at 3am. The tariff is fine; the queue after a wide-body arrival is not.
- Not telling anyone the flight number. If your driver is not tracking the inbound, a delay turns into a missed pickup and a paid-for hour you never used.

This page is for one thing: you are flying Emirates through DXB, you have hours to spend, and you want to know what is free, what is not, and what you can actually do with the time.
What is actually open when you land
The reason we ask for your flight numbers before we suggest a route: half of Dubai is shut at the hour most long-haul connections arrive.
The one time we can give you exactly. The Dubai Fountain runs every 30 minutes from 6:00pm to 11:30pm, per The Dubai Mall’s own listing, which we re-check before we quote you. Land after the last show and the fountain is finished for the night, so we do not build your route around it and we say so upfront.
The times we refuse to publish. Observation decks, the Frame, the malls and the souks shift their hours with the season, with Ramadan and with public holidays. Operators who print a fixed table of those hours are guessing. We check the real times for your date when you send your flights, and if the thing you came for is closed in your window, we tell you before you book rather than after.
Short version by arrival hour. Land before 17:00 and the indoor attractions are the safe plan. Land between 17:00 and 23:30 and the fountain is live. Land after that and it becomes a lit-city drive — Marina, the Palm, Downtown from the outside — which photographs better than it sounds and costs the same.

These are the questions Google shows for Emirates stopovers and Dubai Connect, answered from the airline’s own published pages and from driving these runs every week.
Does Emirates have free stopovers in Dubai?+
Emirates has a free service called Dubai Connect, and it is not quite the same as a stopover. If Emirates could not offer you a shorter connection, Dubai Connect covers a hotel, applicable meals, coach transfers and a complimentary 48-hour visa where your nationality needs one. A Dubai Stopover, by contrast, is extra nights you add to your ticket on purpose, and you pay for those. Both let you leave the airport; only one of them is free.
Does Emirates give free hotels for a long layover in Dubai?+
Yes, through Dubai Connect, when your itinerary qualifies. Emirates provides the hotel stay with applicable meals included and a complimentary coach to and from the airport. You have to book it at least 12 hours before your flight to Dubai and then meet the Dubai Connect desk in arrivals. It is not automatic and it does not apply if a shorter connection was available on your route and you chose the longer one.
How do I book Dubai Connect?+
Book your flights first, then log in to Manage Booking with your surname and booking reference and choose Dubai Connect — the system tells you during the process whether you are eligible. It has to be added at least 12 hours before your flight into Dubai. If you booked through an Emirates office or a travel agent, call them and they can add it for you.
What is the difference between Dubai Connect and a Dubai stopover?+
Dubai Connect is compensation: Emirates could not give you a short connection, so they cover the hotel, the meals, the coach and the visa. A Dubai Stopover is a purchase: you deliberately add nights to your ticket, choose your own hotel and build your own itinerary. Dubai Connect is decided by Emirates and is free. A stopover is decided by you and is not.
How long does a Dubai layover need to be to leave the airport?+
As a working rule, five hours is the minimum and it only buys you a short run. Between the aircraft door, immigration, any bags, security on the way back and a buffer you should never spend, plan on losing three to four hours of any connection. A seven-hour connection is a three-hour city visit. Under five hours, stay airside — we will tell you the same thing if you ask us.
Can I leave Dubai airport during a layover?+
Yes, if your passport allows entry to the UAE and your connection is long enough. Your onward boarding pass does not keep you inside the terminal. What matters is entry permission for your nationality and having enough time to clear immigration in both directions comfortably.
Do I need a visa for a Dubai stopover?+
It depends on your passport, and it is not something a tour company should be summarising for you. If you are on Dubai Connect, Emirates includes a complimentary 48-hour visa, arranged at least 48 hours before arrival where it is needed, or on arrival subject to UAE immigration approval. If you are not on Dubai Connect, check the current entry rules for your own nationality with Emirates or the UAE authorities before you plan anything.
What can I do on a 6-hour Dubai layover?+
Comfortably: old Dubai and the creek, the gold and spice souks, Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab from the beach side, Dubai Marina, then Downtown for the Burj Khalifa and the Fountain. That is our 6-hour private plan at AED 799 per car for up to seven guests, with pickup inside arrivals and drop back at departures with time in hand.
Is a Dubai stopover worth it?+
If you have more than five clear hours and you are not exhausted, yes — Dubai is unusually easy to see quickly, because the sights are close to the airport and the roads are good. Downtown is roughly fifteen minutes from DXB in normal traffic. If your connection is short, or it is the middle of the night and you have a long flight ahead, it is genuinely better to sleep in a lounge.
What happens to my luggage during a layover tour?+
On most connections your checked bags go straight through to your final destination and never come out. If they do come out, or you have cabin bags with you, they stay in the vehicle with you for the whole tour — no storage fee, no lockers, no dragging a case through a mall. Dubai Airports also runs left-baggage counters in the terminals if you prefer.
How much is a private Dubai layover tour?+
Our stopover plans are priced per vehicle, not per person: AED 699 for four hours, AED 799 for six, AED 999 for eight and AED 1,299 for a twelve-hour overnight run, in a sedan or SUV for up to seven guests. A Land Cruiser is AED 999, 1,099, 1,399 and 1,699 for the same durations. Airport pickup, drop-off, fuel, Salik tolls, parking and waiting time are included, and you pay the driver on the day.
Will the driver wait if my flight is delayed?+
Yes. We track the inbound flight, and a delay costs you nothing — the pickup simply moves with the aircraft. That is the main practical reason to pre-book rather than take your chances at the rank, especially if you land at an hour when the queue is long.
Can you pick me up from my Dubai Connect hotel instead of the airport?+
Yes, and for a lot of guests that is the better version. You clear the airport on the Emirates coach, check in, drop your bags in the room, and we collect you from the hotel door for a night tour or a desert safari, then bring you back. Just tell us the hotel name once Emirates has confirmed it.
Is it cheaper to take a taxi and do it myself?+
For one or two people with light bags and a simple plan, a taxi can work out cheaper, and we will say so. It stops being cheaper the moment there are three or more of you, or you want more than one stop, because a taxi is priced per journey and waits are billed by the minute. Our price is for the whole car and the whole gap, including the waiting.
Do you do Abu Dhabi from a Dubai stopover?+
Yes, but be careful with the clock. Abu Dhabi is roughly ninety minutes each way, so it only makes sense on a long stopover or an overnight one. If you have a full free day it is a genuinely good trip — the Grand Mosque alone is worth the drive. On a six-hour connection it is not.

Do you run layover tours at night?+
Yes, at any hour. There is no cut-off and no night surcharge. If you land at 02:40, the driver is at arrivals at 02:40 and the price is the same as a midday pickup. Night is one of our busiest windows because so many long-haul connections through Dubai fall in the small hours.
Marina, JBR, the Palm and Downtown are lit and almost empty after midnight, and the roads are clear, so a night run often fits more in than the same hours in daytime traffic.
Can I have an overnight layover in Dubai?+
Yes. If your connection runs overnight you have two choices: take the Emirates Dubai Connect hotel if you are eligible and sleep, or stay out and see the city with the roads empty. Plenty of guests do a few hours out and still get a short sleep at the hotel afterwards.
We can collect you from the airport or from your Dubai Connect hotel, and return you to either. Tell us which and we build the timing around your boarding call.
Can I have a 24-hour layover in Dubai?+
Yes, and it is the most comfortable gap of all. A full day is enough for Old Dubai in the morning, an indoor stop through the hottest part of the afternoon, and the Fountain and the Marina after dark, with rest in between.
On a gap that long the twelve-hour plan at AED 1,299 per car usually makes more sense than several short runs, because the car and driver stay with you rather than being booked twice.
Where can I go in Dubai after 10pm?+
The Marina and JBR waterfront, the Palm and Atlantis, Downtown and the Burj Khalifa from the outside, and Sheikh Zayed Road at full tilt. The Dubai Fountain’s last show is 23:30 and the observation decks close, so after that it becomes a lit-city drive with photo stops rather than a ticketed-attraction run.
Old Dubai and the souks are shut at that hour, so we leave them for a morning arrival instead. We will tell you which of your ideas will actually be open at the time you land.

If we have to cancel, what happens?
A cancellation policy that covers your obligations but not ours is only half a document. Here is our side of it, in writing.
If we have to cancel your booking — for weather, a vehicle issue, or driver illness — we will contact you as soon as we know and rebook you at no charge on the next date that works for you. You pay nothing for the cancelled booking.
If we need to send a different vehicle than the one you booked, we will ask you first rather than turning up in something you did not book.
This is separate from your own cancellation rights, which are unchanged: you can cancel free up to 12 hours before pickup. Because we take no deposit and no booking fee, there is no money of yours sitting with us either way — nothing to chase, and nothing to wait for.
