VIP Desert Safari Dubai — AED 999 Per Car: The Short Answer

The whole Land Cruiser, up to seven guests, pickup at a time you choose. Licensed operator, DCT Abu Dhabi.

  • How much is a VIP desert safari in Dubai?: AED 999 per car for the private Land Cruiser, or AED 799 per car for the private car. Both are priced per vehicle, not per person.
  • How long does a VIP desert safari take and what time is the pickup?: An evening programme usually runs six to seven hours door to door, with an afternoon pickup timed so you reach the dunes before sunset and return late in the evening.
  • What is included in a VIP desert safari?: Expect pickup and drop-off in a four-wheel drive, dune driving, a sunset photo stop, camel riding, sandboarding, henna, Arabic coffee, a barbecue buffet with vegetarian options, and stage entertainment.
  • Can I cancel a VIP desert safari booking?: Yes. We allow free cancellation up to twelve hours before pickup, and there is nothing to claw back because you have not paid anything yet.
  • Is a VIP desert safari suitable during pregnancy?: Dune bashing is genuinely rough and should be skipped. We will run the drive without it if you ask before booking.

How to read this ladder. The two private tiers at the top are quoted per vehicle. One family of six pays AED 999 for the Land Cruiser; one couple pays the same AED 999. That is the whole point of a per-car price, and it is why the VIP tier stops looking expensive the moment your group grows. The three tiers below it are quoted per person, so they get more expensive as the group grows, not less. Somewhere between four and five people the shared AED 100 seat and the private AED 799 car cross over, and past that point the private car is the cheaper booking as well as the better one. The Can-Am buggy is not a safari on its own. It is an add-on you attach to whichever tier you have chosen, and it carries a two-hour minimum, so read AED 800 as the half-hour rate inside a longer booking rather than the price of one short ride.

What is a VIP desert safari in Dubai, and what does it cost?

A VIP desert safari is the same desert evening bought as a private vehicle instead of a shared seat. With us that is a private Land Cruiser at AED 999 for the car — the whole vehicle, your own pickup time, up to seven people — or AED 799 for a private car. Not per person.

Every operator on this page-one uses the word VIP and almost none of them defines it. It is not a regulated term. In practice it means one or more of four things: a private vehicle, reserved seating at the camp, a private majlis, or a separate dinner service. Which of those you actually get changes completely between operators at the same headline price.

We tell you exactly which of the four are included below, and which are extra, before you book rather than at the camp.

VIP desert safari packages and prices

Three ways to book the VIP tier, all priced per vehicle. The car price does not change with group size — that is the entire point of it.

    PackageVehicleGuestsPriceBest for
VIP Private Land Cruiser SafariToyota Land CruiserUp to 7AED 999 / carGroups of 4–7, most space and comfort
Private Car SafariPrivate 4x4Up to 6AED 799 / carFamilies and small groups who want the vehicle to themselves
    Sharing home pickupShared 4x4Per seatAED 100 / personDoor-to-door without a private vehicle
Shared coach transferCoachPer seatAED 50 / personBudget, fixed schedule
Self driveYour own carPer personAED 35 / personYou drive out, we run the camp
Desert sand dunes glowing at sunrise
Sunrise over the dunes — the same desert on every tier. What changes is the vehicle and the timing.

Every price above is the price of the safari. Camp concessions — the photographer, the falcon photo, extended henna, an extended camel ride and alcohol where licensed — are charged at the camp by the concession, not by us. They are listed with the add-ons below.

What the other VIP operators charge

We are cheaper on the premium tier and we carry one more guest. These are prices those operators publish on their own pages, read 15 August.

OperatorPremium private vehicleMax guestsWhat 4 guests pay
Royal Arabian SafariAED 999 per car, flat7AED 999

    vipdeserttour.comAED 150 per person plus AED 500–700 per SUV7AED 1,100–1,300

Read the third row carefully, because that structure is what catches people out. A per-person charge on top of a vehicle charge means the quote you were given is not the price you pay. Ours is one number for the vehicle, whether there are two of you or seven.

Where we are not cheapest: our Can-Am buggy is AED 800 per 30 minutes, against roughly AED 600 for a two-seater elsewhere. We would rather tell you that here than have you find it on another tab.

What is the difference between a desert safari and a premium desert safari?

The desert is identical. What changes is the vehicle, the timing and the seating. A standard safari puts you in a shared 4x4 on a fixed collection route to a large camp. A premium or VIP safari gives you the vehicle to yourselves, a pickup time of your choosing, and in some cases reserved seating once you arrive.

Nothing about the dunes, the sunset, the dinner or the shows is different. Anyone selling you a "more exclusive desert" is selling you the same sand.

The four things that genuinely differ

    • Who else is in your car. Shared means four to six strangers and a collection route that can add an hour before you leave the city. Private means the car leaves when you do.
    • Whether pickup is a time or a window. This is the difference guests feel most, and it is the source of the worst reviews in this market.
    • Where you sit at the camp. Standard is open floor seating and cushions. Reserved seating, where offered, is a separate charge at most camps.
    • Whether you can change the plan. In a private vehicle you can skip dune bashing, leave early, or stay for the last of the light. On a shared booking you cannot do any of those.

If your reason for wanting VIP is the last point — control — the private car at AED 799 already gives you all of it. The Land Cruiser at AED 999 buys space and comfort, not a different desert.

Who should not book the VIP tier

Naming this plainly costs us bookings and saves us bad reviews.

    • Two people on a budget. Two shared seats cost less than the Land Cruiser. Take the shared seat and spend the difference on a buggy.
    • Anyone who only wants the quad bike or buggy. Book that directly instead of paying for a safari built around it.
    • Guests with spinal or heart conditions, or in pregnancy. Dune bashing is genuinely rough. We will run the drive to camp without it if you ask, but you should ask before booking.
    • Severe motion sickness. The dunes are not the place to find out. Tell the driver before you set off and he will flatten the route.
    • Anyone expecting a quiet private camp. The camp is shared with other guests whatever tier you buy. A private vehicle does not buy a private camp.

The questions guests actually ask before booking VIP

"Will the pickup actually turn up?"

You get a WhatsApp confirmation with the driver's name and vehicle before the day, and the driver's direct number on the day. Pickup is a time you chose, not a window. If anything slips, you are talking to a person, not a call centre.

"Are there extra charges at the camp?"

Yes, and here they are: the camp photographer, the falcon photo, extended henna beyond the included design, an extended camel ride, and alcohol where the camp is licensed. Those are camp concessions, not us. Everything in the included table above is covered by the AED 999.

    "Is VIP just a word?"

On many listings, yes. That is why the table above separates what is definitely included from the two things we have not confirmed. Ask any operator to do the same before you pay.

"Can I book a private desert safari rather than VIP?"

Yes — that is the AED 799 private car, and for most groups it is the better buy. See private desert safari Dubai.

"Do I pay before the day?"

No. There is no deposit and no prepayment. You pay on the day. A booking costs you nothing until it happens.

    Why book this with us

Licensed by the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi. Our own camp at Al Khatim, not a shared one. 100,000+ bookings completed on WhatsApp. 4.9 from more than 5,000 guests.

The licence covers us as a tour operator and covers the guests we carry. We do not publish the licence number — published numbers get copied onto other people's websites, which is precisely the problem in a market where roughly ten of about three hundred operators have historically been licensed. Ask us on WhatsApp and we will show you.

The scale number is the one you can check yourself: every one of those 100,000+ bookings ran through the same WhatsApp number you are about to message. That is not a claim on a page, it is a channel you can open.

VIP add-ons, with what we know and what we do not

Add-ons are booked either in advance or at the camp. Pre-booking is cheaper for the motorised activities and it is the only way to guarantee a unit — the buggies in particular sell out.

You are never charged for any of those at the camp.
Cancellation: 12 hours. Cancel or move your booking up to 12 hours before the pickup time and there is nothing to pay — no card is taken at booking, so there is nothing to refund. Inside 12 hours the vehicle and the camp seats are already committed, so message us on WhatsApp and we will do what we can.

    Can-Am dune buggy — AED 800 per 30 minutes

Two-hour minimum, maximum two riders, drivers 18 and over. This is our one price that sits above the market — competitors advertise a two-seater at around AED 600 for 30 minutes. Ours is a Can-Am Maverick X3 with a roll cage, and the minimum hire is honest rather than a 30-minute teaser that turns into an upsell at the dune.

Quad bike — AED 100/150 controlled area, AED 200/300 open desert

Quad bike rider on the Dubai desert dunes on a VIP desert safari add-on
Quad biking on the Dubai dunes — the price depends on where you ride, not on when you book.

There are two quad prices because there are two riding areas. The controlled area is the marked ground beside the camp: AED 100 for a single seater, AED 150 for a double. The open desert takes you out onto the dunes proper: AED 200 single, AED 300 double. Both are automatic quads, both include a helmet and a briefing, and the price is per quad rather than per person, so a double seater at AED 300 is AED 150 each.

Most operators quote you one number and do not tell you which area it buys. The competitor benchmark on this search sits at roughly AED 150 per person for 30 minutes in a controlled area — the same money that puts two of you on a double quad in our controlled area. If you have come for the dunes, take the open desert option; if you have children or nervous riders, the controlled area is the right call and it is the cheaper one.

BBQ Buffet Dinner in the Desert

The buffet is included on every tier including the AED 35 self-drive entry. There is a separate vegetarian counter rather than two token dishes on the end of the meat line — [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: exact number of vegetarian dishes on the Dubai camp buffet]. All meat is halal.

Seven blanks in that table are deliberate. dubaisafari.vip publishes every one of its add-on prices — private table AED 110 per person, quad AED 150, two-seat buggy AED 600, four-seat AED 750 — and that transparency is genuinely better than ours right now. We will fill these in as soon as they are confirmed rather than publishing a number that changes at the desk.

VIP desert safari Dubai: your questions

What is a VIP desert safari in Dubai?

A VIP desert safari is the same desert evening bought as a private vehicle instead of a shared seat. With us it is a private Land Cruiser at AED 999 for the whole car, up to seven guests, with pickup at a time you choose rather than a two-hour window.

How much is a VIP desert safari in Dubai?

AED 999 per car for the private Land Cruiser, or AED 799 per car for the private car. Both are priced per vehicle, not per person. At four guests the Land Cruiser works out around AED 250 each.

What is the difference between a desert safari and a premium desert safari?

The desert is identical. What changes is the vehicle, the pickup timing and the seating. Standard means a shared 4x4 on a collection route; premium means the vehicle is yours and leaves when you do. Anyone selling a more exclusive desert is selling the same sand.

Is VIP desert safari worth the extra money?

For four or more guests, yes, because per-car pricing beats per-person seats and you control the timing. For two people on a budget, no — take a shared seat and spend the difference on a buggy. We will tell you that on the phone.

Can I book a private desert safari instead?

Yes. The private car at AED 799 gives you the same control — your own vehicle, your own pickup time, the option to skip dune bashing. The Land Cruiser at AED 999 buys space and comfort, not a different experience.

Does the VIP price include reserved seating at the camp?

This is not confirmed and we have deliberately left it blank on the page rather than publish a figure we have not verified. Ask on WhatsApp before booking and we will confirm exactly what your booking includes at the camp.

Are there extra charges at the camp?

Yes, and we list them. The camp photographer, falcon photo, extended henna, extended camel ride and alcohol where licensed are camp concessions charged separately. Everything in our included table is covered by the price you paid.

Do I have to pay in advance for a VIP desert safari?

No. There is no deposit and no prepayment. You pay on the day, so a booking costs you nothing until it actually happens.

How many people fit in the VIP Land Cruiser?

Up to seven guests in the one vehicle, and the price is for the vehicle regardless of how many of you there are. Child seats are included free — tell us ages when you book.

Can I skip the dune bashing?

Yes. Tell us before pickup and the driver will run a flat route to the camp instead. This is one of the practical advantages of a private vehicle — on a shared booking you cannot change the plan.

Is a VIP desert safari suitable during pregnancy?

Dune bashing is genuinely rough and should be skipped. We will run the drive without it if you ask before booking. If you have a spinal or heart condition, the same applies — ask first rather than deciding at the dune.

Can I wear shorts on a desert safari?

Shorts are fine at the camp. Evenings in the cooler months get genuinely cold once the sun drops, so bring a layer. Our guide to what to wear covers the season-by-season detail.

Which desert safari is best in Dubai?

It depends on group size and what you want to control. Shared seats are best value for one or two people. Private per-car pricing wins from about four guests upward and is the only way to control pickup timing and skip activities.

Do you have Hindi or Urdu speaking drivers?

Yes — request the language when you book and we will assign a driver-guide accordingly. Say so at booking rather than on the day, so we can allocate properly.

What is a VIP desert safari in Dubai and how is it different from a standard one?

VIP usually means the same desert programme with a better seat and better service: a reserved table near the stage, drinks brought to you instead of queued for, and priority on the camp activities. The drive, the dunes and the show are often identical to the standard tour. Ours runs at our own desert camp, which we own and built, so seating and timings are ours to control rather than a slot bought from someone else's venue. Anything beyond that — vehicle type, table position, finish time — is worth confirming in writing before you pay.

Is a VIP desert safari private or shared?

Two very different products share the label. One is upgraded seating inside a shared camp, where you still travel with other guests in the vehicle. The other is a genuinely private tour where the Land Cruiser is yours alone. We price private tours per vehicle rather than per head, so children add nothing to the fare and a family of five pays what a couple pays. If a listing quotes a per-person VIP rate, it is almost certainly the shared version with a nicer chair. Ask which one you are actually buying.

How much does a VIP desert safari in Dubai cost?

Prices swing enormously depending on whether you are buying one seat or a whole vehicle, and some operators and the large booking platforms will undercut us on the shared version. We do not publish a headline VIP figure, because the fair number depends on pickup point, group size and add-ons; message us on WhatsApp and we will quote the vehicle rather than a per-person teaser. What we will commit to in advance is no deposit and no booking fee, payment on the day, and free cancellation up to twelve hours before pickup.

Is a VIP desert safari worth it or should I just book the standard one?

If you are two adults who mainly want dune driving and dinner, the standard package delivers most of the experience and the upgrade is largely furniture. VIP earns its money in three situations: a big family that needs to sit together, a celebration that needs a fixed table, or anyone who dislikes buffet queues. On a tight budget, book the standard tour and spend the difference on a quad or buggy add-on instead. We would rather tell you that than sell you a chair you will not notice.

What is included in a VIP desert safari?

Expect pickup and drop-off in a four-wheel drive, dune driving, a sunset photo stop, camel riding, sandboarding, henna, Arabic coffee, a barbecue buffet with vegetarian options, and stage entertainment. The VIP element adds reserved seating and table service. Falconry, quad bikes and buggies are normally paid extras rather than inclusions, so read the line items instead of the headline. Helmets are provided and compulsory for our quad biking. Alcohol, where it is offered at all, is almost always charged separately at the camp.

How long does a VIP desert safari take and what time is the pickup?

An evening programme usually runs six to seven hours door to door, with an afternoon pickup timed so you reach the dunes before sunset and return late in the evening. Morning safaris are shorter, around four hours, and drop the dinner and the show. Pickup times are windows rather than appointments, because a shared driver collects several parties on the way; a private vehicle removes that uncertainty. If you have a dinner booking or an early flight, tell us and we will build the timing backwards from it.

Can I take young children on a VIP desert safari and do they pay?

Children are welcome, though dune driving is bumpy and toddlers often do better on a gentler route, which we can arrange on request. On our private tours the price is per vehicle, so children add nothing — that is usually where a family beats a per-person VIP seat on cost. Note that UAE law requires every passenger to wear a seat belt, with a AED 400 fine and four black points for the driver, and a front-seat passenger must be at least 145 cm tall and at least ten years old (u.ae, read 17 August).

Do I need a child car seat for a desert safari pickup?

The Official Portal of the UAE Government states that children up to four years of age must be provided with a child safety seat, and that violations carry a AED 400 fine and four black points (u.ae, read 17 August). Tell us at booking if you are travelling with an infant so we can confirm what the vehicle can accommodate before the day. If you already have a seat at your hotel or apartment, bring it down with you — that is simpler and safer than assuming one will be waiting in the car.

Can I cancel a VIP desert safari booking?

Yes. We allow free cancellation up to twelve hours before pickup, and there is nothing to claw back because you have not paid anything yet. Many operators and the large booking platforms use a twenty-four-hour window instead, and some luxury products use longer ones, so a same-day change of plan can cost you money elsewhere. Compare the cut-off, not just the headline price. If desert conditions look poor, contact us as early as you can and we will talk through the alternatives with you.

Do I have to pay a deposit to book a VIP desert safari?

Not with us. There is no deposit and no booking fee, and you pay on the day. That matters more than it sounds, because prepayment on a card is what makes a cancellation window painful — you end up chasing money back rather than simply not paying it. Some operators and the large platforms require full payment at checkout before they will hold a seat. If you would rather have the figure locked in advance, ask and we will confirm the quote in writing over WhatsApp.

Is quad biking included in a VIP desert safari?

Usually not. Almost every operator sells quad bikes and buggies as timed extras, priced by machine and by ride length, and the VIP label refers to seating rather than to engines. With us, helmets are provided and wearing one is compulsory. We do not publish a minimum age for quad biking, because it depends on the machine and the rider, so confirm that for your group at the time of booking. If quad time is the main reason for the trip, reserve it explicitly rather than hoping at sunset.

What should I wear to a desert safari in Dubai?

Loose, breathable clothing and closed shoes you do not mind filling with sand. Evenings cool quickly once the sun drops, so carry a light layer even in summer, and bring sunglasses and sunscreen rather than anything fashionable. Shoes come off at the camp seating area in any case. If the same trip also takes in Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, entry there is free with a pre-booked online access pass and the mosque publishes its own visitor requirements, which are worth reading rather than guessing (szgmc.gov.ae, read 17 August).

Is the VIP desert safari inside the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve?

Ours is not, and we would rather say so plainly. The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve covers 225 square kilometres, about 4.7 per cent of Dubai's total land area, is managed as an IUCN Green List protected area, and gives limited access to designated zones to selected tour operators only, with four-wheel excursions restricted to pre-planned routes (ddcr.org, read 17 August). If seeing Arabian oryx inside that reserve is the whole point of your evening, book one of the reserve-licensed operators instead of us and enjoy it.

Can I see the Dubai desert for free instead of paying for a safari?

Largely yes, and for some travellers that is the better call. Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve is described by Dubai's own tourism authority as the largest unfenced nature reserve in the UAE (visitdubai.com, read 17 August), and the government portal counts more than 5,036.24 square kilometres of protected areas nationally, about 6.02 per cent of the country (u.ae, read 17 August). Sunset over open dunes costs nothing if you have a car. What you cannot arrange yourself is dune driving, a camp dinner and a live show.

Is a VIP desert safari suitable for wheelchair users or elderly parents?

Partly, and here is the honest limit. A foldable wheelchair travels in the Land Cruiser boot if you declare it when you book; powered or non-folding chairs cannot be carried. Soft sand defeats wheels, so moving around camp means being helped or staying seated at your table. Dune driving is genuinely rough, and for frail passengers we can skip the bashing and go straight to the camp, which is often the right choice. If mobility is a serious constraint, a city or mosque itinerary will make a better evening.

Can I book a VIP desert safari if I am staying in Abu Dhabi?

Yes, and this is where we are strongest: we are licensed by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi and we own and built our own desert camp. Be realistic about geography, though. If you are staying in Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai, a Dubai-side pickup with a Dubai-side operator will put you on the dunes sooner than a cross-emirate transfer will. If you are already in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, or pairing the desert with Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, message us on WhatsApp for a vehicle quote.

If we have to cancel, what happens?

A cancellation policy that covers your obligations but not ours is only half a document. Here is our side of it, in writing.

If we have to cancel your booking — for weather, a vehicle issue, or driver illness — we will contact you as soon as we know and rebook you at no charge on the next date that works for you. You pay nothing for the cancelled booking.

If we need to send a different vehicle than the one you booked, we will ask you first rather than turning up in something you did not book.

This is separate from your own cancellation rights, which are unchanged: you can cancel free up to 12 hours before pickup. Because we take no deposit and no booking fee, there is no money of yours sitting with us either way — nothing to chase, and nothing to wait for.
