Yes. The Pearl Lounge takes direct paid entry from all passengers, subject to availability, and is the obvious choice if you hold no premium ticket or card. Availability is the catch — neither is guaranteed, so treat paid entry as a hope rather than a plan if you are travelling at a peak bank.

The airport publishes walk-in access at AED 265 for three hours (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). The operator’s own booking page shows a rate from AED 263.00 for the same lounge, so the figure you pay may differ slightly by channel and by whether you pre-book (plazapremiumlounge.com, read 17 August). Showers and the wellness areas are listed as paid extras on top. Check the live rate before you travel rather than budgeting from any third-party guide.

The airport gives the location as departure level 3, at the beginning of Pier D, airside (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). The operator’s booking page describes the same lounge as level 5 departures near gate D43, so signage and the two descriptions do not agree perfectly (plazapremiumlounge.com, read 17 August). Follow Pier D and the in-terminal wayfinding rather than either write-up, and allow a few extra minutes — Terminal A is very large and the walk from security is not short.

The Pearl Lounge, the Etihad Business Lounge, the Etihad First Class Lounge and the Diamond Lounge are all listed as open 24 hours (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). The exception is Etihad’s U.S. Preclearance Lounge, which opens daily from 06:00 to 10:30 and 23:00 to 03:30 to match the American departure banks (etihad.com, read 17 August). That matters on a red-eye: an arrival at three in the morning still has lounge options, which is not true at every Gulf airport.

The airport states that the Pearl Lounge accepts Priority Pass, LoungeKey, DragonPass and DreamFolks, alongside direct paid entry (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). If your credit card carries any of those memberships, use it rather than paying the walk-in rate — that is a couple of hundred dirhams saved for the sake of checking your wallet. Entry on a membership is still subject to space, and guest policy is set by your card issuer, not by the airport.

It sits on departure level 3 between Piers C and D and is open 24 hours. Etihad lists Liwan global dining as a self-service buffet, the East and West Study as a quiet retreat with runway views, relaxation rooms with day beds, a family room, a games room with foosball and air hockey, showers, and a roof lounge with a bar (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). Access is complimentary on eligible Business tickets and by Etihad Guest tier, with paid passes sold subject to availability.

It is on departure level 3 between Piers C and D, open 24 hours, and reserved for guests flying in The Residence or First, plus qualifying Etihad Guest tiers. The Diamond Lounge sits at the end of Pier A, reached from the external landside apron level, and is open 24 hours. It is a VVIP meet-and-greet product rather than a drop-in lounge: private check-in, dedicated immigration, customs and security desks, butler and concierge service, private VVIP rooms, luggage transfer to and from the aircraft, and airside limousine transfer. No price is published; booking is via allwaysvip.com (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). Assume it is priced well above a standard lounge pass.

Yes, in a limited sense. The Yas Island Lounge is positioned in the arrivals area and offers complimentary refreshments, relaxation space, itinerary planning and booking help for Yas Island experiences, at no extra charge to Yas Island guests (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). It is a hospitality desk for people heading to Yas Island rather than a full arrivals lounge with showers, so do not plan a long recovery stop around it. Opening hours are not published on the airport site.

Yes, and on a long layover it is usually the better buy. AUHotel is inside the transit area airside, with 6, 12 and 24-hour flexible stay packages aimed squarely at layovers, 24-hour reception and in-room dining. Guests must present a valid boarding pass for an onward flight from the airport at check-in (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). A bed and a door beats a reclining chair once you are past roughly six hours, and you avoid paying a lounge twice when the three hours run out. Often not. If your connection is under about three hours, most of it disappears into disembarking, the walk through a very large Terminal A, and being at the gate in good time — so a three-hour pass at AED 265 buys perhaps ninety usable minutes (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). The terminal has free unlimited Wi-Fi, prayer rooms, baby changing rooms and plenty of seating (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). Buy a coffee, keep the money, and save the lounge for connections long enough to justify it.

Only if you can enter the UAE. Many nationalities get visa-free entry or a visa on arrival; those who do not can be sponsored for a transit visa of either 48 or 96 hours, applied for through UAE-based airlines, travel agencies or airport hotels. It is single-entry and cannot be extended (u.ae, read 17 August). Check your own nationality on u.ae before you assume anything, and remember you will queue through immigration in both directions — build that into your timing.

Public bus. The A-series routes run 24/7 from stops just outside arrivals, with the airport describing a one-way fare of around AED 4. Route A1 serves Al Zahiyah and the Tourist Club area, A2 runs to Khalifa Street. You cannot pay cash — you need a Hafilat card, bought and topped up at machines by the stops (zayedinternationalairport.ae, read 17 August). For Dubai, an Airport Express shuttle runs hourly to Ibn Battuta Bus Station, roughly ninety minutes, ticketed at a counter in arrivals. If you have five or six clear hours and can enter the UAE, yes — and we will say so even though it costs us a booking. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque admission is free; you pre-book a free online access pass and dress in long, loose ankle-length clothing, with a headscarf for women. Opening is 09:00 to 20:30 with last entry 20:00, and Friday is split 09:00 to 11:30 and 14:30 to 20:30 (szgmc.gov.ae).
