Abu Dhabi’s own tourism board puts average summer daytime temperatures around 40°C and winter around 25°C, and names winter, late autumn and spring as the ideal times for outdoor activity like dune bashing. One page advertises a morning safari with a start time of “07:00–07:30 AM or 11:30–12:00 PM” — the return window has been pasted into the start field, so a morning product is advertising a midday departure. The same page claims a four-hour duration with a return of 11:30–12:00 while its own seven-step timed itinerary does not fit inside it. And its cancellation terms ship as unedited placeholder text reading “free cancellation up to 12–”, with the sentence simply unfinished.

Another claims 4–5 hours while publishing pickup at 07:00–08:00 and drop-off at 11:00–11:30. An 08:00 pickup returning at 11:00 is three hours, not five.

And the same page prices one product two ways — a private morning safari quoted per vehicle in one place and differently in another, with nothing reconciling them.

Ours: one pickup window, one return time, and the drive time to the camp stated separately so you can see how much desert you actually get. If you want sunrise specifically, say so — it is an earlier start and a different product, and it is the best light of the day.

The camel ride nobody will put a number on

Every morning safari on this search includes a camel ride, and not one operator states how long it is in minutes. The descriptions are “short camel ride”, “brief camel ride for photos”, and similar. If the camel is part of why you are booking, that is the number to ask for.

More significantly: not one page on this search publishes a word about camel welfare — no rest periods, no load limits, no shade or water provision, no handler information. We will answer those questions for your booking when you ask, and if riding does not sit right with you, you can meet and photograph the camels without riding and the morning is otherwise unchanged.

Morning or evening? The honest comparison

Be clear about the trade: the morning safari is the dunes, the camel and the sandboarding without the camp evening. It is shorter, cooler and usually cheaper, and for a lot of visitors it is the better trip — but if you were expecting dinner and a fire show, you want the evening product and we will move you to it.

The best window is the first 60–90 minutes after sunrise, when the sun is low and the light is warm and directional. Shoot with the sun behind or to the side of your subject for glowing rim-light on the dune crests, and look for the clean, unbroken ripples that the wind leaves overnight — they read beautifully in low-angle light.

For phones, tap to expose for the sky, then lift shadows afterwards; use portrait mode for camel and family shots and burst mode during the dune drive.
