Dubai Night Tour
Four hours after dark in a private car: the Fountain show, Downtown lit from the base of the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Zayed Road, the Marina and JBR. Your driver, your pace, no other guests.
Dubai Night Tour: The Short Answer
Four hours after dark in a private car: the Fountain show, Downtown lit from the base of the Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Zayed Road, the Marina and JBR.
- How much does a Dubai night tour cost?: Ours is AED 699 per car, about USD 190, for four hours with hotel pickup and drop-off and up to 7 guests.
- What time does a Dubai night tour start?: Usually 5:30 PM, so you reach a viewpoint before the light goes. In deep winter we start closer to 4:30 PM and in high summer closer to 6:30 PM.
- Is Dubai safe at night?: Dubai has a very low street-crime rate and the areas on this route are busy and well lit well past midnight.
- What do you see on a Dubai night tour?: The Dubai Water Canal waterfall bridge, Downtown and the Dubai Fountain, the Burj Khalifa from the base, the Sheikh Zayed Road tower corridor, Dubai Marina and JBR.
- What time is the Dubai Fountain show?: Dubai official tourism portal visitdubai.com states the show runs every 30 minutes from 6 PM.
Quick answer: a Dubai night tour is a four-hour private drive that starts around 5:30 PM and gets you to the Dubai Fountain, Downtown, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai Marina and JBR while they are lit. Ours is AED 699 (USD 190) per car (USD 190) with hotel or apartment pickup, up to 7 guests, no deposit.
Everything on the standard route is free to look at. You are paying for the car, the driver and the timing, not for tickets. If you want to go up the Burj Khalifa or ride an abra, those are separate and we will tell you what they cost before you book, not after.
Private Car vs the Bus and the Shared Minivan
Search “Dubai night tour” and most of what comes back is a seat you share: the hop-on-hop-off night bus, a minivan tour with eight strangers, or an OTA ticket priced per person. Ours is a private car with a driver, priced per car, not per head, so three or four of you pay once and go where you want in the order you want. The bus keeps its own timetable and its own stops; the shared minivan waits for the slowest person at every photo stop. We wait for no one but you, we skip what you are not interested in, and if your night is a layover we run the loop and get you back to the airport on your clock. You are paying for the car and the driver, not a seat in someone else’s tour.
What a Dubai night tour actually is
Dubai runs on two clocks. Between roughly 11 AM and 4 PM the city is a set of air-conditioned boxes joined by hot pavement. After sunset it becomes the place people came to see: the towers switch on, the Fountain starts, the souks fill up, and the temperature drops far enough to stand outside without regretting it.
A night tour is simply a private car and a driver for the four hours that matters most. You get picked up at your hotel, apartment or a Dubai address you give us, you stop where you want to stop, and you get dropped back. There is no fixed group, no bus schedule, and nobody waiting on the coach while you take a photograph.
It is worth being blunt about what it is not. It is not a nightlife or bar crawl – we do not run those. It is not a guided walking tour with a licensed guide reciting history at each stop; your driver knows the city and the stops, but he is a driver, not a Department of Tourism guide. And it is not a ticket bundle. If a page offers you a night tour with the Burj Khalifa observation deck folded into one headline price, read what is actually included, because the ticket is usually the expensive half.
The route, stop by stop
This is the standard run. You can reorder it, drop a stop, or spend the whole evening in two places instead of five – it is your car.
| Stop | Roughly | What you do there | Cost to you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pickup | 5:30 PM | Hotel, apartment or address in Dubai | Included |
| Dubai Water Canal and the waterfall bridge | 6:00 PM | Photo stop while the light is still blue | Free |
| Downtown and the Dubai Fountain | 6:45 PM | Fountain show from the lakeside, Burj Khalifa from the base | Free to watch |
| Sheikh Zayed Road | 7:45 PM | The tower corridor, driven slowly, windows down | Free |
| Dubai Marina and JBR | 8:15 PM | Walk the promenade, The Beach at JBR, Ain Dubai across the water | Free |
| Drop back | 9:30 PM | Same address or anywhere else in Dubai | Included |
Common swaps, at no extra cost: Old Dubai and the Gold and Spice Souks instead of the Marina; the Burj Al Arab viewpoint at Umm Suqeim beach; Palm Jumeirah and the Atlantis approach; or Global Village and Dubai Miracle Garden in the season they are open, though those have their own entry tickets and take an evening on their own.
What time it starts, what time you get back
The tour is four hours. The only thing that really moves through the year is sunset, and the whole point of the evening is to be at a viewpoint when the light goes.
| Season | Suggested pickup | Back around | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deep winter | 4:30 PM | 8:30 PM | Sunset is early; you get blue hour at the Canal |
| Spring and autumn | 5:30 PM | 9:30 PM | The standard run, and the most comfortable |
| High summer | 6:30 PM | 10:30 PM | Later start, so the walking stops are bearable |
If you want a shorter evening, say so – three hours costs the same, because the car and the driver are blocked out for you either way, and we would rather you kept the hour than paid for one you did not use. If you want longer than four hours, we price it as a car with driver by the hour instead; that is a different product and it is on the car with driver page.
The Dubai Fountain: the one timing you should plan around
Everything else on this route is flexible. The Fountain is not – it runs on a schedule, and if you arrive four minutes late you wait for the next one.
Dubai’s official tourism portal, visitdubai.com, states the show runs every 30 minutes from 6 PM. It also lists paid ways to watch: boardwalk tickets from AED 25 and lake rides from AED 73. We read that page on 12 August while writing this, and schedules do change for maintenance and for Ramadan, so check it again the week you travel.
You do not need either ticket. The show is free from the Dubai Mall waterfront promenade and free from the Souk Al Bahar bridge, which is the better angle and always less crowded. Your driver drops you at whichever side is moving that night and picks you up at the same door. The boardwalk ticket buys you a closer, quieter railing – worth it if you are a photographer, not worth it if you are simply watching.
What it costs
One price, per car, for the whole vehicle. Not per person, and not a headline fare that doubles at checkout.
| What | AED | USD | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private night tour, 4 hours, sedan or SUV | 699 | 190 | Up to 7 guests, hotel pickup and drop-off |
| Fountain show | 0 | 0 | Free from the promenade and the bridge |
| Dubai Fountain boardwalk ticket, if you want it | from 25 | from 7 | Optional. Official price, visitdubai.com |
| Fountain lake ride, if you want it | from 73 | from 20 | Optional. Official price, visitdubai.com |
| Abra crossing on the Creek, on the Old Dubai variant | 1 | 0.30 | Per person, per crossing, paid in cash |
Parking, tolls, fuel and the driver’s time are inside the AED 699. There is no deposit and nothing to pay online – you pay the driver at the end of the evening. USD figures are converted at the pegged rate of 3.6725 dirhams to the dollar and rounded.
When you should not book us
Most operator pages will not write this section. Here it is anyway, because the maths is not always in our favour.
Big Bus Tours runs a night route in Dubai on its open-top buses. Their own site lists Dubai tickets from US$40 per person – read on bigbustours.com on 12 August. Their night tour is sold inside those passes rather than as a standalone fare, so treat US$40 as the entry point and check what the night route costs on the day.
| Group size | Big Bus, at US$40 each | Our private car, USD 190 flat | Cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | USD 40 | USD 190 | Big Bus, clearly |
| 2 people | USD 80 | USD 190 | Big Bus |
| 4 people | USD 160 | USD 190 | Big Bus, narrowly |
| 5 people | USD 200 | USD 190 | Us |
| 7 people | USD 280 | USD 190 | Us, comfortably |
So: if you are one or two people on a budget and you do not mind a fixed route and a bus stop, book the bus. It is cheaper and it is a perfectly good way to see the city lit up. We would rather tell you that than sell you a private car you did not need.
Book us instead when there are four or more of you, when you have small children or someone who cannot walk between bus stops, when you want the souks and the Marina in the same evening, when you are coming straight off a flight with luggage, or when you simply want the car to wait while you take your time.
Coming straight from the airport
A large share of the people who search for a night tour are not in a hotel yet – they are landing at DXB in the evening with six or eight hours before the next flight, and the evening is the whole trip.
If that is you, the night tour still works, but the version you want starts and ends at the terminal rather than a hotel, and it has to be built around your boarding time rather than around sunset. We run that as a layover tour, with the airport pickup, the luggage question and the get-you-back-in-time margin built in. Start on the Dubai airport layover tour page, or on the stopover page if you are staying a night or two between flights. If your bags are the problem, the DXB luggage storage page has the official left-luggage rates.

Practical things people ask in the car
What to wear. Dubai is relaxed in the tourist areas, but the souks and the Creek are working neighbourhoods and covered shoulders and knees read better there. Evenings from late autumn to early spring get genuinely cool on the Marina promenade with the wind off the water – bring a layer. In summer you will not need one.
Children. Fine, and the evening suits them better than a midday tour. Tell us their ages when you book so the right seats are in the car. There is no extra charge for a child seat.
Photography. The Fountain from the Souk Al Bahar bridge, the Burj Khalifa from the lakeside at the base, the Marina from the Marina Walk footbridges, and the Water Canal waterfall bridge in the twenty minutes after sunset. Your driver knows where to stop; tell him you are shooting and he will time the stops differently.
Food. The tour does not include dinner, and we do not take you to a shop or a restaurant that pays us a commission. If you want to eat, tell the driver and he will stop where you want to stop – JBR and Souk Al Bahar both have a full range, and the Old Dubai variant passes far better and far cheaper food than either.
Ramadan. The city shifts late and the Fountain schedule changes. The evening tour is still the right tour, but the timings on this page will not be the timings that month – ask us on WhatsApp for that week’s plan.

Dubai night tour – FAQ
How much does a Dubai night tour cost?
Ours is AED 699 per car, about USD 190, for four hours with hotel pickup and drop-off and up to 7 guests. That is the whole vehicle, not a per-person fare, and it includes parking, tolls and fuel. There is no deposit and you pay the driver at the end.
What time does a Dubai night tour start?
Usually 5:30 PM, so you reach a viewpoint before the light goes. In deep winter we start closer to 4:30 PM and in high summer closer to 6:30 PM. You are back about four hours later.
What do you see on a Dubai night tour?
The Dubai Water Canal waterfall bridge, Downtown and the Dubai Fountain, the Burj Khalifa from the base, the Sheikh Zayed Road tower corridor, Dubai Marina and JBR. On request we swap in Old Dubai and the Gold and Spice Souks, the Burj Al Arab viewpoint, or Palm Jumeirah.
What time is the Dubai Fountain show?
Dubai official tourism portal visitdubai.com states the show runs every 30 minutes from 6 PM. Schedules change for maintenance and during Ramadan, so check the official page again the week you travel.
Is the Dubai Fountain free to watch?
Yes. It is free from the Dubai Mall waterfront promenade and free from the Souk Al Bahar bridge. Paid options exist if you want them: boardwalk tickets from AED 25 and lake rides from AED 73, both official visitdubai.com prices.
Can I do a Dubai night tour from the airport?
Yes, but you want the layover version, which starts and ends at the terminal and is planned around your boarding time rather than around sunset. Our Dubai airport layover tour page covers pickup, luggage and the time margin.
Is the bus night tour cheaper than a private car?
For one to four people, yes. Big Bus Tours lists Dubai tickets from USD 40 per person on its own site. At five people or more our flat USD 190 car works out cheaper, and it also gets you door to door.
Is Dubai safe at night?
Dubai has a very low street-crime rate and the areas on this route are busy and well lit well past midnight. Normal city sense applies. Women travelling alone generally report feeling comfortable walking the Marina and Downtown promenades late.
Where can I go in Dubai after 10 PM?
Dubai Mall trades late, the Marina and JBR promenades stay busy well past midnight, and Global Village runs late in its season. The Fountain shows finish around 11 PM. Our standard tour ends about 9:30 PM, and we can push the whole evening later if you prefer.
What can I see in Dubai at night for free?
Almost everything on our standard route. The Fountain show, the Burj Khalifa lit from the base, the Water Canal waterfall bridge, the Marina Walk, JBR beach and the Souk Al Bahar bridge all cost nothing. Only the observation decks, the boardwalk railing and the lake ride are paid.
Does the tour include Burj Khalifa tickets?
No, and be careful with pages that imply otherwise. The observation deck ticket is bought separately and is usually the most expensive part of an evening. We will tell you the current price and help you time your slot, but it is not inside the AED 699.
Is this a nightlife or bar tour?
No. We do not run bar crawls, club entry or nightlife packages. This is a sightseeing drive with photo and walking stops. If nightlife is what you want, book directly with the venue.
Can we change the route?
Yes. It is a private car, so you can reorder the stops, drop one, or spend the whole evening in two places. Swapping the Marina for Old Dubai and the souks costs nothing extra. Tell the driver at pickup or message us before.
Do I have to pay in advance?
No deposit and nothing to pay online. You confirm on WhatsApp, we send the driver, and you pay him at the end of the evening. If you need to cancel, tell us before the day and there is nothing to pay.
How many people fit in the car?
Up to 7 guests in one vehicle at the same AED 699. Larger groups go in a second car or a van, and we quote that before you book, never after.
Is a night tour better than a day city tour?
For photographs and comfort, yes, especially from spring through autumn when the middle of the day is brutal. For Old Dubai, the museums and the Frame, daylight wins. Many guests do the day city tour and add the night tour on a second evening.
Prefer the water to the road? Dhow cruise Dubai.
First trip to the city? Read first time in Dubai.
Can We See Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, Downtown and Jumeirah in One Night?
Yes, that is exactly the four-hour private route. In one evening the car covers Burj Khalifa and the Fountain at Downtown, the Jumeirah coast with Burj Al Arab, and finishes in Dubai Marina after dark, with real photo stops at each, not a drive-by. A family who starts at 6pm catches the first Fountain show, hits the coast at golden hour, and is in the lit-up Marina by nine.
Is Hotel Pickup Included, and Is the Car Private to My Group?
Yes to both. Pickup and drop-off at your Dubai hotel or address is included in the AED 699 (USD 190) per car, and the vehicle is yours alone with no strangers sharing it. A group of five pays the one car price, not five seats.
Is There a Night Surcharge, or the Same Price as a Day Tour?
No night surcharge: it is the same AED 699 (USD 190) per car, and the price is the same at 10am or at 8pm. Most operators quietly add an evening premium, and we do not, because the driver and the car cost us the same after dark. So a family choosing the evening slot for cooler air and the lit-up skyline pays exactly what a daytime group pays.
Can we stop for dinner or catch the Fountain show during the tour?
Yes to both. The route already puts you at the Dubai Fountain for a show on the half hour after dark, and the driver will pause at a restaurant or the Marina so you can eat, then carry on. Just tell the driver on the night, and there is no extra charge for the wait while you have dinner.
